Acoustic Guitars

Much like archtops, there are a lot of great acoustic guitars out there.  There are some great acoustic boutique guitar makers.  My favorites, in no particular order are:

-          Bourgeois

-          C Fox

-          Santa Cruz

These builders just make magnificent guitars.  The tone, playabilty, fit, and finish is just incredible.  While costly, these guitars are a work of art and are really suited to be legacy guitars and family heirlooms to be passed on from generation to generation.

I have not had the opportunity to play a Collings, Goodalll, Lowden, or Huss & Dalton.

In terms of corporate builds, Martin is still the undisputed leader.    They’re an American legacy and tradition.  While Martin is known for their dreadnaughts, I actually prefer their 000 or OM shaped guitars. These models are just really balanced across the whole sound spectrum.  The dreadnaughts can be a bit boomy at times.  The inlay work on their higher end )40 series) models are exquisite.  Elegant but not overly flashy.

Other great commercial acoustics are (in no particular order) are:

My favorite commercial builds are:
